ABOUT US

Inspired by their love of dogs, Steve and Holly Rogers solidified their passion in 2018 by forming Rover's Rescue & Retreat, a 501(c)(3) charity. Their mission; rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abandoned and unwanted dogs.

Since it's beginning, Rover's Rescue & Retreat located in Waxhaw, NC has partnered with several animal clinics in North and South Carolina and with businesses throughout the greater Charlotte area to provide vet care, adoption events and education for surrounding communities.

Steve is a retired United States Army veteran who served for 20 years. He graduated from Tarheel K9 Academy. Steve holds a Master Certification in dog obedience instruction.  He is also certified in canine First-Aid. Steve has 8 years experience as kennel manager between his time with Wickersham's K-9 Ranch in Marshville, North Carolina and Dulles Executive Pet Center in Leesburg, Virginia.

Holly has 14 years as a rescue volunteer and foster dog mom.  She has deftly juggled a full-time career in the financial industry while raising 3 children and 6 fur babies.  The children and the dogs participate in the socialization and training of the rescue dogs.

BECOME A FOSTER

By placing a dog or puppy into a foster home, we are able to expand our capacity to save even more lives.

Think you don't have room to foster a dog in need?

If you have a garage or basement, spare bedroom or bathroom, you can give shelter to an animal in need of temporary housing.

Afraid you'll get attached?

While it's true that some of our foster parents end up adopting, most folks are able to let their foster dog/puppy go with the bittersweet joy of knowing they have saved a life and that another dog needs their help.

The simplest way to assist Rover's Rescue & Retreat is by making a monetary donation. In order to make sure that we are able to assist as many dogs and puppies in finding forever homes, they must see a vet to ensure their health.  This requires basics such as deworming, distemper and rabies shots of course spay/neuter. The costs add up quickly!

Donations can be made using Donate button at the top of the page or, from within Paypal using the address roversrescuenretreat@gmail.com or by clicking on the Donate button at the top of the page.
